I love all those military museums, the ones in Europe are awesome too. Fort Carson in Colorado Springs has a great outdoor exhibit of tanks, armored cars and more, some even Russian.
I spent a long time in the museum in Bastogne. And the American tanks in the Main Plaza are guarded by a bust of Anthony Clement “Nuts” McAuliffe (July 2, 1898 – August 10, 1975).
The tanks and the bust are adorned with fresh flowers every morning. MY WWI vet father was on the trip. All the hotels were full but when a hotel manager found out dad was an American WWII vet, dad was given the manager’s suite, free. This was during the 60 anniversary of D-Day event, American soldiers were all over the place.
Sorry, that should be WWII vet.
