I dropped hubby off at the Charleston West Virginia airport on one of our location trips. Looks like a pretty trashy City. But then again most of West Virginia is.
I thought this was the kind of environment I wanted. But after being in it, it’s too much like Deliverance. The people are not as much independent as I thought, but more like still suffering the effects of past inbreeding and are very clannish. Probably because they just don’t understand Outsiders, there’s a lot of things that are too confusing for them. We’re trying to buy a house from 1 so that’s why this is on my mind, he finds things like appraisals and house inspections confusing. I’m shaking my head right now, I’d like to live among those with an IQ > 90.
There’s generally a reason they tend to be distrustful of outsiders; they’re inclined to want to change the way of life that the locals are happy with. If you’re that unhappy with the general area, not sure why you’re choosing to remain.
The number one location on this person’s list was Dallas TX. Now, that wouldn’t suit me *at all* and ‘Dallas’ covers a wide territory, but that might make it easier to find the perfect spot.
What?
Didn’t you just move to Kingsport suburbs?
Mainly come to the thread to catch up on election news from a responsible group. But I did take notice you’d moved to my general area. (Or I’m typically confused.)
When I moved to very rural area I had a great neighbor who took a shine to me and our closeness helped much with overcoming a very strong reticence to newcomers. Didn’t notice any intellectual fault with most here though. About the same amount as most places.
Though at first people were willing to appear stupid around the newcomer. Challengingly so at times.
