Re: Pence’s role ....
Is the objective to bring Biden below 270 so the election is decided one vote/one state in the House?

Here....see this....SamAdams76 explains it well....

Thank you for bumping that and for clarity, I do want to emphasize that these "competing slates of electors" we are hearing about today do still need to be certified retroactively by the states in question in order to be selected by Pence on 1/6. Otherwise, he will just get the one slate certified today.

Certified competing slates of electors have only come into play two times before, 1876 and 1960, if I am not mistaken.

Below is an excerpt from my earlier post. Note that I qualify it by saying "IF a state sends two slates of electors..." I trust that the Trump team knows what they are doing and have a game-plan to get these Trump slates certified so that Pence has them on 1/6.

If a state sends two slates of electors, the president of the Senate (VP Pence) may decide which slate to accept. This is one way in which Trump can be re-elected on January 6th. All it would take is for Pence to select the Trump electors in contested states where he believes vote fraud took place. But as I understand it, Pence doesn't even really need a reason. If he has two slates presented from a given slate, he can arbitrarily choose to accept one slate over the other.
