Donbass was a manufacturing and industrial area....important to Russia. Putin would never let that go to Ukraine and everybody knew it. Far to many Russian military and war machinery made there to let the candy man Poroshenko have it.
I haven't followed Ukraine closely but it will always be a debtor nation...and they'll make certain it remains that. The EU has seen to that along with the former BO administration.
I have hope that once Trump wades into his second term, the international corruption will be drained considerably, thus enabling other countries to be Great Again as well. US foreign aid (quote unquote) is also a big cause of corruption in other countries, as well as chunks coming back to line the pockets of politicians who vote for the aid in Congress. What to speak of enabling and siding with the bad guys in foreign countries.
