Should this all end up in the lap of the SCOTUS, would it not stand to reason that they’ve been listening to Chuckie and Nancy promising to pack the Court, which would thus render the jurisprudence of current members meaningless?

In a perfect world it shouldn’t come to this, but why would they vote to neuter themselves?
