Thanks for the info. I wouldn’t mind a bit if the whole country went back to the old-fashioned way of voting; i.e., one day (7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.), in-person, & present driver’s license and/or voter registration card at the door.

Yes; keeping the voting simple.

My view is, that the capabilities of computers, keeps driving “Let’s do ____, (because we can).” Forgeting the simple process and objective.

PS. I learned this morning (somebody’s thoughts on something said by President Trump, yesterday?), that it may be possible to alter the setup of some electronic vote systems, by feeding ballot-sized paper (thus appearing to be ballots and not challenged) that has marks/symbols on it, that the machine can read as a program command.

Thus, the vote tabulator can acquire an altered setup or commands, without any network connection and without somebody attaching a “memory” device (”memory card” or USB “drive”).

Never occurred to me, because the singular objective has always been to read the voter’s decisions.

“in-person, & present driver’s license and/or voter registration card at the door”

I did that, with both documents - neither of which was required.

In a state that shipped out an “Application for Absentee Ballot” (vote by mail or drop box) . . . to *everybody.* No request by registered voter, being necessary.

I took along my voter registration card, just in case somebody had already voted in my name - I was going to object to that, because of what the state had done re shipping applications to *everybody.*
