There's been a lot of discussion about Barr's appointing Durham as a special counsel, but from the reading of the article with Miss Didi's post #56, it's not as bad as one would think.

Point 1--Barr said he made Durham a special counsel in October, not today.

Point 2--This affords Durham special protections so that he cannot be fired by a new administration, similar to how Mueller could not be fired.

Trump needed to officially look very separate from the DoJ and FBI. It worked so well people are on fainting couches all over FR, clutching their pearls, and preparing their bowls of hemlock.
