The Arizona State Legislature has approved a Special Session under U.S. Constitution Article II §1.2 to choose and appoint Electors due to extensive corruption of law in the State.
that is because he sees it as his way to get the mccain acolytes to back him for Senate next time... plus he wants to kiss Cindy’s feet.
I say, politically, rip his proverbial tongue out.
The whole state hates him for the phony lock downs.

Too fast. The hearing concluded a few hours ago. The organizer of the hearing stated he was going to call for a special session, but I doubt they’ve been able to wrangle the votes so fast.
If AZ does do the right thing, maybe it’ll shame PA into calling a special session and following suit.
I thought the Governor had to call a special session?

Check with Mark Finchem and his committee, to see if a special session will be held.

One of the legislators at the hearing called for a special session, but I don’t know that one has been scheduled.

Neither Governors, nor any other government officials have influence on how the State Legislature uses its Article II powers. The Legislature just needs the permission of Legislators.

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled more than once (most recently in Bush v. Gore) that each state legislature has exclusive and plenary power to choose its electors for the electoral college. They can designate a method, such as a popular election, but they can pull their power back at any time and just choose the electors themselves.
In this area, they are not bound by state statutes or constitutions, because the U.S. Constitution (Article II, section 1) gives them the power to choose the electors.
They just need to recognize that they have this power and be willing to use it.
Follow Ohios lead and michigan.I wish georgia would do the same.
Per the Arizona Constitution, calling a special session requires a 2/3 majority vote in both houses of the legislature. The state Constitution is the final authority in the matter. The U.S Constitution gives the legislatures the power to select electors, but they still have to follow the rules set out in the state Constitution.
“(2) Upon the presentation to the governor of a petition bearing the signatures of not less than two-thirds of the members of each house, requesting a special session of the
legislature and designating the date of convening, the governor shall promptly call a special session to assemble on the date specified. At a special session so called the
subjects which may be considered by the legislature shall not be limited.”
Ducey can call one, but it’s pretty clear that he won’t.
PA needs to take note.

A state Constitution cannot take the US Constitutional powers away from the state legislatures.

In closing arguments, a couple of the senators were NOT limiting their comments to the need of taking charge of electors, but were going farther about removing the governor and secretary of state.
They were extremely pissed to find out that the Governor wouldn’t even return Rudy’s phone calls.
And, they didn’t appreciate him certifying in the middle of their hearings either.
