Actually, the true number of Americans who practice concealed carry is considerably higher. As Lott noted, “Seventeen states no longer provide data on all the people who are legally carrying a concealed handgun because people in those states no longer need a permit to carry.”
In 2020 alone, Lott found that women comprised 26.4% of concealed-carry permit holders in the 14 states that tabulate data by gender. “Seven states had data from 2012 to 2019/2020, and permit numbers grew 101.2% faster for women than for men.”
Interestingly, “Three states that have detailed race and gender data for at least a decade show remarkably larger increases in permits for minorities compared to whites. In Texas, black females saw a 3.9 times greater percentage increase in permits than white males from 2002 to 2019. Oklahoma data from 2002 to 2019 indicated that the increase of licenses approved for Asians and American Indians was more than twice the rate for whites. North Carolina had black permits increase twice as fast as whites from 1996 till 2016.”
These numbers are part of longer-term trends.

You carry a phone? Carry a gun.
“Seventeen states no longer provide data on all the people who are legally carrying a concealed handgun because people in those states no longer need a permit to carry.”
I am not in one of them. (:
me neither. I think it is very, very difficult to get a conceal carry permit in Santa Barbara County sadly.
Go to class get a permit, preferably an enhanced carry permit. Get a book or two by Mossad Ayoob. Study, understand, and don’t leave home without the gun. The phone is up to you. Be Safe.
Shoot until you are familiar with your weapon of choice.
Alas. When I was there, SBHS had a range on site.
No where in the 2nd Amendment can I find where it says I need a permit.
This is the best news. Sure, ammo’s expensive (but exists) so not much fun for hobby shooting. Firearms are difficult to find and expensive — much the same.
However even accounting for the NFAC and Panti-fa buys, a lot of people are now on the side of good having had their safety shell broken.
Better yet, the only stories I read of bad shoots are the same NFAC jerks practicing friendly fire. No spike in NDs or other trouble.
Even if they haven’t been able to skill up and so forth, the ranks of people who now have a backstop to their liberties is massive.
What’s the old quote? ““And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? “
... and that was with a populace already disarmed.
A hearty shout out from AZ.
A Constitutional carry state...
Walk into a gun store and buy a gun, put it under cloth and walk outside all legal beagle. Period. Full stop.
Woot! Woot!
Alas! Those were the days.
not a surprise
men carry
One of the bright spots of the socialist riots is that at a stroke it wiped ou years and years of investment and effort by Bloomberg to push his gun grabber agenda.
.
Heh. Funny that.
When I started carrying, I kept my StarTac flip phone in a belt holster on my right side.
Since that space was going to be taken up with pistol, the phone had to go to the left side. That was a bit of muscle memory I had to retrain.
But I can have pistol in one hand and phone in the other now, if need be.
I had the same issue. It all seems natural now.
Am always amazed that people own fire extinguishers yet do not carry a gun.
Statistically, you are more likely to be the victim of a violent attack than have your home burn down.
