Yep. That is how my Mom’s ankle broke. She was standing at the fridge and then was on the floor. She was in her early 80s with no bone density problems either.

SaxxonWoods, I don't deny the elderly have brittle bones and I'm not saying it's impossible for someone to break their navicular bone, I'm just saying it's an uncommon one to break per Wikipedia (I know, I know).

Lyby, I'm sorry to hear about your fall. It sounds miserable. Do you have any thoughts on Joe's injury? Does what you've read/seen about it comport with your experience?
