There will be a vacancy starting at noon on January 3. Of course Kemp can appoint a senator at such time, even though he only would serve for a week or two (the run-off is on Jan. 5, but it will take a few days to count all of the votes and certify the winner). Why should GA have half of its allotted representation for that time period?
Obviously, Kemp shouldn’t name anyone who could hurt Perdue’s or Loeffler’s chances in the run-off. No cronies, and no one controversial. And not Perdue himself, because it’s bad optics two days before the run-off (”look, that Kemp already called Perdue the winner—let’s show him!”). That’s why I think that the ideal person would be retired U.S. senator Johnny Isakson, health permitting.
BTW, if Perdue wins the run-off (as I assume that he will), the temporary senator can resign even before the certification and Kemp can appoint Perdue to start early. And if the appointee does serve for only three days, it would not be as short a U.S. Senate term as for this piece of work that the Democrat governor of GA appointed to serve for a single day back in 1922: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rebecca_Latimer_Felton
She’s an establishment scion. A Never Trumper.
Thanks.
Yeah there is next to nothing nice to say about him; that being said, he has a rare insight into society in general that would surprise most people. The reason I mentioned it is because it is relatively recent (since 2016) so it may be worth a listen. BTW, I’m originally from Philly so I understand the mindset. FYI, listen carefully - the interviewer asks about Kuklinski - watch how that question goes over like a lead balloon.
The only way the House votes on the President is if there’s a tie, since no third party will get any electoral votes, so a win or a tie are the only options. Given the current situation, 38 votes need to be corrected to Trump to create a tie.
PA: 20
WI: 10
MI: 16
VA: 13
NV: 6
GA: 16
The only way that’ll happen is if MI, GA, and NV are corrected to Trump, but none of the other States are. Which is rather unlikely as it’s looking like PA is probably going to be the first to fix their stuff.
I think what is missing here is that people are so centered on the correction, that they are not being concerned with the crime.
When something like this happens, whose to say it didn’t happen in other states that also could be added to the mix? Going after these six states should only be the tip of the iceberg. And to get to the bottom of it and find how and who did it, is the goal.
Every state should be recounted and a television camera should be dedicated to oversee with all national programing having access to the tapes on demand. All these “counters” should be identified by the public and made to act in an honest and integral manner. And their neighbors, along with the other state voters, should be watching them count with both sides overseeing it if the viewers wish. Complete transparency. And why should these vote counters be frightened to do an honest task and decline this. A vote counter is a person stepping forward for me. I’m not asking for trading cards, just identification at the local level. Be proud of who you are. But if they broke or brake the law, then they should be frightened. That’s what the cameras are for.
Is it going to take time? How long did it take to do it the first time, a week maybe? And that’s with taking the time to discuss vote rejection in private. Isn’t it important enough for the most powerful person in the world to be verified it is the decision of the voters and not possibly shady people since there are so many questions?
And before the support staff for the polls start in, there have been a number of poll locations questioned on overseeing, vote counts, disappearing votes or changed ones, overseers locked out physically, unaccountable votes arriving during the night going to the counting areas without verification, and even vote counters admitting they tossed votes. If you’ve got nothing to hide, come out of the shadows.

Whoops, I was wrong. 38 votes gets Trump to 270, not a tie. We’d need a 37-vote flip to create a 369-369 tie, which means there’s almost no chance of that happening as the contested States have no mathematical addition to that.
Thanks. I was not on the right thread.
Since FR’s rehab, my replies are sometimes not where I wanted them.
“Those six States were just the main ones in the media (well, OAN) that look to have a decent chance of being corrected.”
But you don’t consider a win based upon the correction of a couple of states. If there is a question about voting integrity, then everyone should play. Biden may have lost some in other states the he won based upon graft. And Trump may have won some the same way. But we can’t let anyone get away with it and to do that will constitute a nation wide recount the way I mentioned....with both sides in the loop. I have no desire to not have integrity enough to forget the states either won or how many votes they actually got that will lead, hopefully, to the people that handled the cheat. If you re cleaning up the mess, the little guy is collateral damage, I want the big guys. And escape is easier if the law only looks in a few states.
Two states, Nebraska and Maine, do not follow this winner-take-all method. In those states, electoral votes are proportionally allocated. Maine and Nebraska employ a “district system” in which two at-large electors vote for the state’s popular plurality and one elector votes for each congressional district’s popular plurality.
In Nebraska this year Biden got one electoral vote even though he didn’t get 40% of the vote. In Maine, Biden got 3 of the 4 them even though Trump got 44.2% of the vote. A little standardization, please. So how many states did Biden win that he didn’t which put together a total of more electoral college votes than the ones being investigated? To hit a home run, you have to circle all the bases in the proper order.
If the cheating is wide spread, which I feel it is, all those little numbers add up and subtract from totals. Demand a recount of them all and the territories then they can determine what happened....and hopefully who.
