Sydney Powell specifically asked at the end of Sept. 2020 that a pardon NOT be given to Flynn.
Accepting a pardon also carries a confession of guilt.
so what changed?
I’m guessing Pres. Trump is doing it “just in case”. If he’s out of office, Biden reverses the DOJ and Sullivan brings down the hammer...which he may do anyway.
I doubt it’s insurance. There’s something else going on. But it does create an appearance?
When should a person not worry about appearances?
When it doesn’t matter.

I prefer Texokie’s theory, it’s to allow her to concentrate on election issues.

There is no confession of guilt required or implied by a pardon.
I suspect, however, that the pardon provides a less substantial platform for Flynn's future lawsuit than a dismissal would have, which may be one reason it was less preferred than a dismissal.
I also suspect that there are legal/tactical reasons for the pardon at this time, involving one or more of the principals (Powell, Flynn, Sullivan) and the ongoing fight over the election and the Rule of Law.

Totally disagree. Trump will not be out of office. Some other reason. Maybe Gen.Flynn has something important to do very very soon.
Wonder if the pardon creates a conflict of interest challenge against Sullivan as I believe he was named to preside over one of the President’s election challenges? Perhaps he will be forced to recuse himself as the President’s latest actions go directly against the Judge’s very biased actions against General Flynn. There might have been a valid argument for recusal before, but think this pardon might eliminate all doubt.
