The War in the Pacific was especially savage.

Per my Dad, the Japanese were very tough, smart and cruel.

My grandfather served in the pacific, was part of the enlisted used during the Atomic Bomb post war tests. Transferred to the Air Force in 1947 where my Grandmother was (WAAC support) so they could be stationed together. My dad was AAF in Europe/Japan/South Korea/Viet Nam.

Grandpa became an alcoholic and retired in 1963, passed in ‘66. I am sure the war took its toll as it did with my father’s family. Uncle Johnny -Korea, Viet Nam severe PTSD passed at 45 alcoholism, uncle Mike -Korea severe PTSD passed this year after 55 years locked in his home/bedroom totally introverted. My father was a victim of Agent Orange at age 62. The Asian ways of war are vastly different than ours. But our own government is not open and above board in our actions either.

Despite all of this, America is worth fighting for! The Great Experiment is at a crossroads. Will we endure and continue on the journey towards Life, Liberty, and The Pursuit of Happyness with Liberty and Justice for all or will we continue down the road of “Just Us” based upon the philosophy of “The Power of Pull and Influence”?

Fathers father was taken on Corrigedor. He was one of the Naval personnel gathered up to create the 4th Marine regiment, provisional (his S Class submarine never showed up). They fought on the mainland and subsequently held out on the island after the death march for about a month and a half.

After being a slave building airfields for a year he was put on a death ship to Japan and was a slave in a Hitachi copper mine until wars end. He was about 85 pounds when liberated. Ended up being in the Navy for 32 years.
