It seems there is only one photo of LBJ being sworn in. One.
When there were several, as is befitting an historic event, there was one of the series where the mask slipped, and instead of appropriately somber, he looked rather pleased with himself.
I vividly remember that photo of LBJ being sworn in.
I was 18 at the time, and thought to myself,
“He looks like the cat that swallowed the canary!”
Paul Krassner wrote about LBJ on the flight with JFK’s body. It was published in The Realist as being an article allegedly including passages that were omitted from Jackie Kennedy’s memoirs.
