Asserting direct control over military special ops seems oriented towards thwarting rogue non-military black ops assassination squads.
(Alternatively, to be totally fair, it could theoretically be to augment imminent operations in some rogue country such as Iran or China, so who really knows.)
One more step toward ‘martial law’ possibly, if deemed necessary to declare when the election is called for Trump, after massive cheating is so obvious , it can not be ignored.

There is a significant amount of leadership in special operations that are civilian intelligence officers. One thing peculiar about SOCOM is they do both intelligence operations and something else that is similar.....but they call it something else that is not "intelligence." They have been doing this for decades for no other reason than to escape the crap-ton of intelligence oversight regulations.
So this is a policy oversight issue that starts with USD(P) and USD(I), the latter just got fired, along with his COS. With this move.....NONE of the operations reviewed and approved by USD(P) or USD(I) are going to go without higher oversight.
IOW the White House needs a defensive force to repel an attack.
These guys might be called in proactively to be stationed wherever the president determines he needs to make a stand to repulse a rogue effort to unseat him, in particular, prior to official certification of a harris-biden victory (if it comes to that).
ok, if so, one question that could be raised is why not retreat to a more easily presumably defensible location such as andrews afb or camp david?
one supposes that the answer would be that the white house has a very high symbolic value to the US public. if trump leaves the white house for any reason, then the white house becomes an expendable target in terms of keeping formal control of the presidency. if there were a shortage of troops to repel an insurrection aimed at camp david and the white house, then it would force an operating decision made to abandon the white house in favor of camp david, at which time harris-biden insurgents could in theory overcome white house guards, occupy the white house, and claim the presidency by right of physical occupancy of the white house.
going a step further in this hypothetical scenario, it would not imho be totally inconceivable that a military insurgency would use a civilian (eg antifa) force as an offensive shield. this would be a significant PR victory for insurgents even if the invasion were repelled, due to a non-zero civilian casualty list and videos that could be replayed on the MSM without limit for days, weeks, or months (as needed as determined by the deep state, again in this hypothetical scenario).

SOCOM has a command HQ in FL, unifying special operators from all the branches. Does this bypass the command structure? I can’t see the general in charge being happy about that.

My first thought on this transfer of authority it is to clip the CIA of their private army. In other words, diminish CIA direct action capabilities.

imaginably it could be random civilians in a few larger isolated cities. mop up for national guard or military. the surrounding rural areas and a few suburbs here and there would imaginably support trump. (but dunno anything for certain...)
