One of my favorite books is...."One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich.".....Great author and very insightful Every American high school student should have to read this short book. Kids in advanced history classes should read another of Solzhenitsyn’s books, “Gulag archipelago”. They might not be so enamored of socialism if they actually had an idea of where it leads… to communism.

My son's high school teacher refuse to let him read this book in the place of one on the given list. Even though they were told they could choose another book if he chose to recognize it was a good book. This teacher was very liberal and refused to recognize this author.

Agree, Fd.....both excellent books.
I have One Day in the Life....I think I have Gulag Archipelago....I need to clean out/up my books, in my office.
Actually...my entire office is a bit of a mess.
