“And I am not married to the same car for ten years”

Can you please tell my husband that? When we get a car, it is kind of like when we get a pet. They get a forever home. That’s why we’re having such a hard time moving, we need a huge shop or the land to build one. We finally sold our 20-year old truck, after letting it hang around with the new one. But even he couldn’t justify keeping both.

Guys identify with their vehicle.

It is a reflection of them.

Macho, sporty, trendy, luxurious, racy, sleek—what ever the car conveys, or truck for that matter.

As I aged , my relationship with my vehicles changed.

They are just transportation to me now.

I would rather have comfort and safety features at this stage of life, than a turbo.

Besides, I used to do a lot of my own maintenance on my vehicles, but I find that it is just not feasible to do that any longer, due to the electronics and cost of parts.

I came to the realization that no matter how much you love a vehicle, they don’t love you back. And at Year 4 in their life, things just start to go, and you get on the repair roulette wheel.

It is tough for men to come to that point, because we are so used to the other way.

But if you are at retirement age, and don’t go more than 1,000 miles a month, leasing is a great way to go.
