Ralston is my favorite hot cereal. I love it! Put the hot Ralston in a bowl. Then, put about 2 tsp. of sugar evenly over the top. Slowly, along the side of the bowl, pour cream taking care not to disturb the crust of sugar. Spoon layers of sugar, cream, and Ralston into mouth and enjoy.

I don’t think I’ve noticed Ralston in the stores here in many years.

I am in the same boat as you. I have fired a rifle many, many years ago. But, while I support the 2nd amendment I haven’t felt the need for one. I’m rethinking that.

The Loretto Chapel in Santa Fe, New Mexico, is a former Roman-Catholic church, that is privately owned today and it is used as a wedding chapel and a museum. The most remarkable part of the chapel is definitely its spiral staircase.

The Sisters of Loretto, a religious order assigned to care for the chapel, called several carpenters to try and find a solution.

It was proposed that instead of a stairway, which would interfere with the chapel’s interior space, a ladder should be built.

After refusing the ladder as an inappropriate solution, the sisters started praying to St. Joseph, the patron saint of carpenters.

It is said that on the ninth day of prayer, a man appeared in the chapel looking for work, equipped with only a toolbox.

A few months later, the construction was completed. The result was a 22 feet tall spiral staircase with 33 steps (Jesus’s age when he was crucified), that makes two 360 degree turns.

The carpenter disappeared without being paid. Some of the Sisters believed that he was St. Joseph himself, who after hearing the prayer, came to their aid.

Another mysterious aspect of the staircase was the construction itself. It was constructed without using nails or glue, only wooden pegs.

It is built without the usual central column or support beams. The wood used for the staircase wasn’t native to the Santa Fe region, which was also a curiosity at the time.

Author and historian Mary J. Straw Cook researched documents connected to the chapel and discovered that the woodworker who built the staircase was a Frenchman by the name of Francois-Jean Rochas.

Author and historian Mary J. Straw Cook researched documents connected to the chapel and discovered that the woodworker who built the staircase was a Frenchman by the name of Francois-Jean Rochas.

She found an article in a newspaper about Rochas’s death and that he was the craftsman behind the beautiful staircase.

Cook also found an entry in the Sisters’ books that revealed a payment for wood to Rochas. Rochas came to the States exclusively for the staircase and brought the wood from France.

Master carpenter Christopher Francis Ocean explained the mystery behind the support of the staircase and the lack of a central column:

“a simple staircase has two beams, called stringers, and the treads of the staircase rest on these beams or are connected to them…the weight of the staircase [is] transferred to where the two stringers touch the floor.

The only difference with the staircase at the Loretto Chapel is these beams or stringers have been twisted into a helix.”

NIKK..edited........thanks sweetie for posting the beautiful article. AND much thanks for I_be_tc for reminding me to go back and look at Sweetie's post.

Yeah, you’re probably right!

The left think their thievery is no big deal, but I think most Americans will be shocked. Can I dream it’ll be the end of the Democrat party?

Has he mentioned the shutting down of counting in all the battle ground states?

That was the sign PANIC had set in and they had to step up the cheating.

They were hoping for 68 million votes, got 74 million votes. It’s a joke that Biden would get 80 million votes.

Judges won’t allow them to get evidence in, in Pennsylvania. Thugs working at the polls. Panic made them fill out ballots with just Biden checked. Judges say they don’t have standing.

...I think one judge that said they didn’t have standing was a Trump appointee, IIRC.

Comments for your post.

The bottom line here folks is every American should want a free, fair, honest election no matter your party. Our right to vote and know it counts separates us from many countries around the world! We can’t lower our expectations and water down the importance of the presidency.

Jenna Ellis

No reasonable person can look at this TOTAL DISASTER election and want this kind of precedent for our nation.

Dems may like the “projected” outcome now, but that is NOT how the law works.

Free and fair uncorrupted elections MATTER. That’s why we have Article II, Section 1.2.

To: Spunky; All

It looks like the party here for you was outstanding.... great. Sorry to be late. I have not been able to check into FR on my cell phone for several days. only 20 posts and if I try to log in won’t accept my password .. My mac book pro also has issues. I have not been able to get any program to do anything.. no reboot, no whatever. This AM I finally got onto notebook so not even sure this will post but I will try.

All.. happy Lord’s day. Will later TRY to catch up with the news & injest as much as possilble.

Been really under weather the past week.. actually since my birthday in early November. So Spunkty my birthday in reality as well as virtual was pretty a nothingburger compared to yours with dancing, carrot cake and smiles.. Spent a good part of past week in bed with various maladies. Finally made our Thanksgiving lasagna on Friday. First time in crock pot. Turned out well. I found many recipes on line and combined/tweaked them. Due to my health did NOT do two offerings.. one meat and one not. Did soy crumbles in the one we shared. Jen said it was wonderful and the best lasagna she has ever had. I know the spices make a difference.. and I do a good ricota/custard layer (just one) that sets it apart. I LOVED the crock pot because you skip the part I hate about lasagna - precooking the noodles. Put them in hard & uncooked and they come out wonderful.

I have still tried to pump out a meal each day although I don’t do much else. Missed a few days here and there. The frig is always loaded for Jen to have something and my appetite has been shot. i haven’t had a huge appetite.

Not much new here ..I will be getting blood/iron twice this week. Had follow up with cardiologist.

Appreciate the ideas on shingles. the external rubs for most part aren’t effective for me. I am 5 years into the shingles and my pain is the deep piercing and squeezing neuralgia. Most of the helps one sees (like the Prep H & aloe) are for the initial time of hell.. that first month when your body location is in severe pain, on fire and seemingly the recipient of a voodoo doll with 1000 needles.

scary times for our republic. Many of us have said, many times... Glad I am old.. would hate to be young and facing the hate and evil that is rampart. I really appreciate the research warriors here.. and some new “faces” well... screen names.. glad to see that and feel badly I am not a contributor to the cause anymore. Sad thing is I really wanted to live just to vote.. and now I as well as many others here have no clue if our vote was counted. VERY TRAGIC.

Okay now to see if I post or if this goes to wawa land in electronic heaven. Hugs and love from NE Ohio

Great idea, and have fun.

I should also learn to use firearms. We have 3 gun safes filled, it’s another of hubby’s special interests.

Is there a run on ammo again? I haven’t kept up. The last time, we bought lots.
