“I’m intentionally indulging in confirmation bias”

I’m beginning to suspect that this term has gaslit us all. I know it’s a real thing, but I also suspect that it used to be applied to extreme cases. An example is if some screwy liberal thinks that they are a dolphin or cat and decides to only associate with the “human is actually a dolphin or cat” cliques on the internet. That’s confirmation bias.

I think the term is nonsense when it is applied to political discourse. To me, it seems like a frigging term some twerp liberal can throw in your face to make you question your core beliefs these days.

The argument should be “has the mainstream media been lying to us or not”. If they have been lying, and you know damn well they have been lying, then confirmation bias is pretty useless in that context.

Sorry for the rant :-).

I just mean I’m following things that encourage me, and ignoring things that discourage me. But that’s ok. I’m not pretending to be UNbiased. I’m as partisan as they come, it’s not a bad thing, only when people pretend to be objective but they’re not.
