You would think they would build some redundancy into the system.

In 1977 when NYC had their major blackout, all of the networks went down as they sent all programming from NYC, but at least ABC had a back up signal coming out of Kansas City. Charlie’s Angels went black and our local station but up a technical difficulties message and then it came back on. I later learned about the KC back up feed.
