IIRC, OC used to be conservative whites and Vietnamese refugees.
Then, a large illegal wave hit and resulted in Dornan being replaced by Sanchez. That seemed to be the tipping point, but I never lived down there.

I lived there and OC is a strange mix up of a lot of different races and classes. Every race lives there in good numbers but blacks, who are across in Long Beach.
It is true that the Vietnamese are very conservative. Some guy tried to put up a picture of Ho Chi Minh in his video store in the 90s and the resulting mob of Vietnamese almost burned his place down.
In the early 2000s, a lot of trust fund babies and tech types that work in Irvine moved in and started turning the county blue. The whole Dorman thing preceded it, and as the 2000s continued a lot of the older redder gen moved to Arizona, Utah, and Montana. Santa Ana is still a huge pocket of blue-voting Mexicans and Irvine and Tustin is pretty blue after being quite red before Clinton shut down the El Toro base.
It was a great place to live in the 90s, but now it’s far too expensive and the real estate market will soon crash.

I remember Bob Dornan filling in for Rush Limbaugh...
His district changed...It would have been very hard for him to keep getting reelected...
I don’t want to just blame voter fraud for his defeat...
