I don’t agree. Children are not born evil or good. They are born relatively helpless and innocent. They have to be taught for sure and some are traumatized and carefully taught evil.
The children that I’ve had experience with were all naturally empathetic, and helpful little people-and it didn’t take a heck of a lot of teaching. So I don’t think they are all born evil.
I agree with greeneyes. Most children are naturally good and empathetic. They absorb information like sponges, and learn behaviors, good and bad, from others around them, as a means to survive and prosper. For a child, "prosper" means basically getting food and comfort, and later other amenities they need or want.
Teasing, bullying, sarcasm, deception, and other abuse will make even an empathetic child adopt similar behaviors, or rebellious behaviors, in their quest to "prosper", just as they see others doing.
