Sean Connery, the Edinburgh-born Scotsman actor whose roles as British secret agent James Bond made him an international icon, died in the Bahamas on Saturday. He was 90.
Bond producers EON Productions confirmed his death, first reported by the BBC. Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said they were devastated by the news.
He was and shall always be remembered as the original James Bond whose indelible entrance into cinema history began when he announced those unforgettable words The names Bond James Bond, they said in a statement.
The producers said Connerys gritty and witty portrayal of the sexy and charismatic secret agent was largely responsible for the success of the series.
Connerys suave and fearless secret agent spy film superstardom began with 1962′s Dr. No. He reprised the role six more times until 1983s Never Say Never Again. Connery won an Oscar in 1988 for his role as an Irish cop in The Untouchables. He also had major roles in films including Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Highlander, and The Hunt for Red October.
Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said she was heartbroken at the news.
Our nation today mourns one of her best loved sons, she said.

He truly personified James Bond. No one else comes even close. RIP 007.
"Why no, Mr. Bond, I expect you do die. Fifty-six years from now."
RIP
Rats! You beat me to it!
Rest In Peace Sean.
Great actor. Will be missed.
Pluto TV has a 007 channel. Dr. No is showing now.

It is sad to see a lot of the great ones going up to heaven. At least we can view their work.

...caused by eating too much red meat and white bread and too many dry martinis!
James Bond:
Then I shall cut out the white bread, sir.
Is it known who played Blofeld (not identified as such) in For Your Eyes Only?
The best of the Bonds.
Roger Moore provided live-action cartoons, women became equal partners, and the series never recovered. Then the Fleming originals ran out, and now it's the same Hollywood that produces CGI stunts and thinks they are special effects.
Did you ever listen to the Laura Ingraham radio show? When she had an update about Senator Arlen Spector, she would play the clip of the villain saying SPECTER.
Oh look, I found it:

It looks like all the good ones are on that site.
Remember this on election night: Shaken, not stirred.
RIP.
He was the voice of a dragon... Can’t remember the movie...
Connery was anti-gun, an enemy of the right to keep and bear arms. He was an actor, not a champion of freedom.
I’ll leave others to discuss his misogyny and the celebration of an exploitive sexual lifestyle his Bond character typified.
So Blowfield finally got his way.
Dragon Heart.
Take a look at “A Fine Madness” and “The Anderson Tapes”
Lay off the snark knucklehead. If the mods think they’re excessive they’ll remove them.

OK, then all the Blofelds are dead.
