The movie is flawed, but the story really is great and I think he did a great job even in that one.You and I must be the only ones that feel that way.
Saw it over a decade ago as a lark. Was expecting to riff on it like MST3K, based on the scathing reviews and shots of 40yo Connery in the "red diaper".
I found it quite compelling, as an old-school sci-fi flick with actual questions about life, immortality, and the modern age.

After leaving the Bond series, Connery had difficulty getting parts. John Boorman, the director of Zardoz, got Connery on the cheap as Connery was almost desperate for work. Although the effects in Zardoz are laughable by today's standards, the story stands up. And a young Charlotte Rampling doesn't hurt either.
