Keep me optimistic SmokingJoe!!

You know what it is? I remember FR being so optimistic about Romney beating Obama (lets forget he's only a notch better than Zer0 and was not my pick but I want Zer0 gone!) and posters were talking EV numbers looking good for Republicans, etc. Saying on the ground in OHIO was better than polls were saying for Romney. I remember being on here on the live election thread and sorry to call someone out, but poster LS had people convinced it was going to be a win for Romney from all of the people on the inside he was talking to about the polling numbers.

I'm just super cautious about being too optimistic.

So...I get a little cautious

Do you really remember 2012?
At least 40% of Freepers were against Romney.
Heck, Jim himself was 100% anti Romney.
It was mostly hold your nose and vote for the guy if you have to.
In all the time I have been here, I have never seen Freepers totally support a Republican candidate like they are supporting President Trump right now.
Heck even in 2016 there were deep divisions. I was a strong Ted Cruz supporter. Never believed Trump would govern as a real conservative.
As it turns out, Trump is by far the most conservative Republican president in my lifetime. No one even comes close. Not even Reagan and I love Reagan.

About Romney, he should have won it. You can't win if you are not prepared to do what it takes to win, including getting really nasty like the Dems always do. Trump can be fully relied upon to get every bit as nasty and as vicious as the Dems and do whatever it takes to win.

I remember all that too. Ohio radio talk show host Bill Cunningham was giving us on the ground reports touting a certain victory in Ohio for Romney.

However, let's not forget Romney was leading in the Rasmussen poll over Obama by 52-45 well into October. Then Hurricane Sandy struck the northeast and changed the dynamics of that election. Of course, the media played a key role in helping Obama flip the narrative.

Happily, I am more optimistic about Trump's chances than I ever was for Romney, but not taking anything for granted.
