Having been in the electric power industry for 41 years, mandatory blackouts for anything short of a life-or-death situation, or to save the grid from a total shutdown is almost unfathomable.

Fire danger. Ultra dry November here, usually very rainy, so fuels are dry, and now high winds expected with very low RH. Fires start from downed lines/poles a lot on the west coast. Why don’t they bury the lines...
