Not really gonna change your mind, but hospitals do NOT get money for every case of Covid. Some hospitals were reimbursed for COVID patients that required intensive care treatment and vents. That was a small percentage of patients.
And, hospitals shut down elective surgeries for almost five months. The pittance provided for the very sick, ICU cases of covid do not come close to covering the costs of running a hospital.
You will see a number of small, private, not for profit hospitals closing their doors or selling out over the next year because of the losses incurred during the lockdowns.
