The landscape contractor came back with a quote of $10,000 for labor, and supplies would be probably another $4,000, so we decided we don’t want a new patio and a fire pit that much. We’ll just go on campouts and build campfires.

Crikey. I’d be heading for Lowe’s or Home Depot and checking out some books and some expertise on DIY patio and fire pit. Favorite Son just put his in. Well, the Perfect Wife did most of the work, but she put down square pavers, they got a canopy with mosquito netting and the most work he did was to assemble the fire pit.

I commented Sunday that they still only had two chairs out there, and she said, no, two was all they would need — one for her and one for me because FS often works outside on his handyman jobs and doesn’t want to sit outside when he gets home.

So yah, for $14,000, I’d be seriesly looking at a DIY patio with fire pit. In fact, I think it would be cheaper to fly him down there, let him use his discounts at Lowe’s or Home Depot, put it in over a weekend and fly him back! ;o] He has been known to travel for work!
