“Senior Park” still leaves you with the barking dog issue, though. People just seem to think everyone loves listening to their dogs bark.
In a better world, people wouldn’t get a dog if they couldn’t keep it from being a nuisance to everyone around them.
Amen to that! I feel like throttling the dogs that bark incessantly and giving their owners a fate worse than death. Being a responsible pet owner means you don’t allow that pet to disturb your neighbors. I seldom ever let my dogs out without me being on the other end of a leash, and if I put them on a lead outside, they were brought in at the first bark. Which explains why I’m such a stickler for being a responsible pet owner.
As for cats, I never let them out. I’ve seen too many lying on the roadside, or, as was the case in LA, heard too many of them being torn apart by feral dogs. Everyone is different, though. I don’t imagine your cats being a nuisance to anyone, since they mostly forage in the woods for excitement.
We seem to have a dog who thinks she has a right to demand attention. So she will just come into a room and yip. To me that’s a “must fix” but to Mrs. ArGee it’s OK until someone complains. And she’s insisting on this “dog whisperer” training approach which is getting there but is taking forever. I hope it eventually works.
I’ll admit it isn’t a long period of barking, but I would still have already stopped it using the “I’m alpha and you’re not so stop” training approach.
