Juneteenth has officially become a state holiday after lawmakers unanimously approved legislation during the Virginia General Assembly special session.
Juneteenth marks the day news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached Texas, which was the last state to abolish slavery. The companion bills were introduced by Sen. Mamie Locke, D-Hampton, and Del. Lamont Bagby, D-Richmond. Gov. Ralph Northam signed the legislation on Oct. 13.

Out of all the major events that occurred in Virginia during the Civil War, it was decided to celebrate something that happened in Texas. How about Appomattox Court House Day or Lincoln Enters Richmond Day???

Actually, I think it’s time to stand up and help the Latinos get national status, and a national holiday as well.

Juneteenth. Now thats something all Americans can really get behind. 90% have no idea what it is. Democrats are unthinking.

Virginia General Assembly also tried to pass a “POlice Officers cannot pull over drivers that failed to turn their head lights on when it’s dark” as well... that failed from the last time I looked...
Virginia General Assembly who are Democrats = are dumb and vile people... they look out for the criminal - not the Citizen!

Virginia, now East California, is a lesson for the other states.
Solid red just 15 years ago, now it is permanent blue thanks to illegal and legal immigration and RINO Republicans who would rather lose than have conservatives elected and lose their control of the party.

The way it was explained to me, one heir to the tradition is quoted in Hayes Turners essay, the 19th of June wasnt the exact day the Negro was freed. But thats the day they told them that they was free
And my daddy told me that they whooped and hollered and bored holes in trees with augers and stopped it up with [gun] powder and light and that would be their blast for the celebration. I wonder if the enviro-wackos are aware of this?
