...and not only did Root attend Columbia at the same time as Obama, he was in the same small major (PoliSci), and was in the same graduating class. He was chosen by his class to be the speaker at their reunion. He asked all 400 or so if they remembered Obama or had even met him, and they all said, “No.” I’m reciting this from memory, so forgive me if a detail is incorrect, but it was an absolutely astonishing anecdote from Root.
