You are correct, except for the ending heh heh. But yes, we tried all sorts of medications to calm her. I think it was about 2-3 years in the beginning that she was just crazier than normal. Like she couldn’t get a stain out of my dad’s shirt rubbing with her fingers. Couldn’t figure out the washing machine, the coffee maker.
HA.. one time she made coffee with about 3 different products from the pantry, like kool aid, onion soup, and some other powder.
But she could never be controlled. She set fire to the kitchen trying to kill bugs, threw chairs at my dad, threatened to kill both my sister and I, with a big knife.
So, that’s why Joe confuses me... how do they control him?
My sweet MIL also had Alzheimer’s and she got violent, too and very jealous.
So, my point is.. he either does have it, which I think he does because word salads are hard to do spontaneously, and that “play the record player” seemed spontaneous. Or he’s gonna get an Oscar, a Tony, Golden Globe, Critic’s Choice, and the Huabio lol (Chinese award) and a posh pad in Gitmo!

There are a wide variety of drugs for dementia/Alzheimer's/Parkinsons. It takes a while to find the right combo. You can give someone 1 dose of a drug that would put you and me out for a day or so...and they have no effect, or worse yet, have a boomerang effect. Instead of calming the patient, they rev him up even more!
I think a lot of Joe's regiment includes his sleep cycle. They've figured out when his sun-downing is worst (early afternoon/evening). Notice how few of his appearances are after 5? Very few.
So, the reason he's "lidding" it this week is the same reason he "lidded" it the week before the last debate...they are adjusting his sleep times to have him "perform" at his optimum time (and time to get Jill's hand up his...to make him move his mouth!). And then they have to time his drugs...it takes a few days to adjust all that.
Well, “play the record player” just sounded out of touch to me... like asking George HW Bush to use an automated checkout line. But to get back to your quandry, when my mom was in a personal care home, she fully had her mind but there were some patients that did not. One had been a nurse, and she would come around to the various rooms and make her rounds, you know, like she was still working, they treating you ok honey? Do you need anything? Maybe old Joe has been doing the stump campaign character so well, because he’s been doing it so long, maybe he can do it on autopilot, as it were, except for certain tells like forgetting he’s running for president, not senate. And they say he does ok at first, but then tires and that’s when it falls apart. Sundowners effect.
I’m not convinced that Joe has dementia. What if this is all put on?
What if he knows Trump is going to win (if they can’t manufacture enough fake ballots) and he knows Trump has the goods on him. When Trump wins he’ll be facing indictments. What better excuse than to say “I can’t remember.” “You can’t put me in Gitmo, I have dementia.”
Hahaha, they probably got Marlin Perkins and Jim in the basement with a big ol’ Tranq just to keep matters in hand.
