Ok, a question on your post #784:

“The date of federal elections was set by Congress back in the 1840s. As long as a new date doesn’t conflict with those dates specified by the Constitution, all is OK.”

What dates were specified ?

I searched and found this site, which talks about whether the election could be postponed; cites the dates noted in the Constitution regarding when the electors meet and when the President’s terms of office end:
