In Leftist politics, they can lie about anything they want to, publicly, and everyone on their side accepts they are doing it for public consumption, in much the same way Muslims are allowed (and expected) to lie and deceive to advance Islam.
If Trump or any other conservative came out and said they were for Gun Control or Unlimited Abortion, we would have a conniption fit and refuse to vote for him.
Leftists don’t react in that way, IMO.
