When I was young I held a job for a time in a building that was constructed around 1870. I am 5’ 9” and I had to duck to get through most of the doorframes.

A lot of those buildings were constructed that way to make them more efficient at using heat in cold weather. Hot air rises. The lower the ceiling height the warmer the room will stay.

That is amazing, and 1870 is not long ago at all when you consider how far back humans date. Makes me wonder if the Egyptians from 5,000 years ago were a foot tall lol lol
