It is not just the government. How often to you have your cell phone pop up ads about something you were just talking about?
The government? This is the threat?
Granted, in the last several years, we have all become even wiser to the fact that is far from some benevolent ruler and government corruption is not some sprarce or sporatic phenomenon, but it’s the private (mostly silicon valley) corporations who have the most vortatius appetite for your information, and the data aggregators will cull it all together and sell it off to the highest bidder (foreign or domestic).
If one were to fart, the govt knows what ya ate
THEN comes the unsolicited text/email about a too fat gut and “ did you know your sodium is too high” solution
A while ago, my wife and I were driving somewhere, and I mentioned that Adirondack chairs were more comfortable than they look. I hadn’t mentioned Adirondack chairs for years, or even thought about them much. The next day we were getting ads from Wayfair for, you guessed it, Adirondack chairs.
I only have an old flip phone, and I leave that at home unless I have a specific reason to carry it. My wife just loves her smartphone, though, and the damned thing is always on. If I could, I’d have no TV, smartphone, or other listening device in the house, but that won’t happen.
