My father gave me a 1950(?) Marlin 336rc that my grandfather gave to him.
Hadn’t been fired more than 40 times and it was perfect.
Burglars took it, I feel your pain.
And you let him live? Some things are thicker than water, but stealing a lever action from family ain’t one of them.
Most excellent news. One might add a shiny new Marlin/Ruger lever gun to one’s wantwant list.
A 336 in .35 Remington would be da bomb.
“My brother stole a Marlin 39A Golden Mountie Rifle from me and traded it for a bag of weed. My grandfather left it to me.”
The selling of any “JM” marked Marlin would be a death penalty offense in my family.
Oh man, talk about a cult favorite... How about a Marlin camp carbine in .45acp?
I still have my model 60 too. Same thing. Kmart.
What does the “jm” designate?
Never mind. JM = North Haven original.

Ruger ping. Is there are Ruger facility in Reidsville?
The JM stamp means that the firearm was made by Marlin and not under the company that bought them out. Some are referring to the new marlins as remlins. The JM stamp would be on the barrel, you will not see it on the new marlins.Jan 18, 2014

I was looking for that one several years ago. None to be found at a reasonable price. I’ve had several offers for my Camp 9, all of which I turned down.
If anyone can do it, Ruger can!!!
Major league Ruger guy here-love Ruger.
He bought it for me the year I was born. I will not speak to him again.
Ever.

Thanks.
My best iron sight shooter is a 30-30 336.
Bought from a neighbor about 40 yrs back for $150.

Your family sounds a little like mine.
Yes, good news indeed.
Now somebody needs to rescue Remington...an American icon.
Perhaps Smith & Wesson.
I bought a 1895 Guide Gun in 45-70 a couple of years ago as a camp gun. Shoots standard loads nicely. I have a box of bear loads which I have not shot yet. A convenient size, works well and is quite potent, so I have no complaints.
I shot my first mule deer with a .30-30 Marlin 336. It was DRT.
