Maybe Rush can comment on this, having used an IFB* throughout his radio career. I think slow Joe will have a very tough time trying to speak with a voice in his ear. Will we hear the oft-lampooned "I, state your name" meme? If he is practicing anything, it's dealing with the earpiece and not memorized responses.
