you are right...sorry this is going to be verbose...even wordy...

I'm guessing Powell's 600k+ number came from either John Robertson's book ? Or the OIG report ?

Robertson (the case agent that processed the Weiner laptop,) in his book "October Surprise: How the FBI Tried to Save Itself and Crashed an Election" claims:

"I consider that lawyerly bulls---,” Robertson continued. “I possess — the FBI possesses — 20 times more emails than Comey testified to (approx. 30,000 I believe. I have 600,000+). While Comey did not know at the time about what I have, people in the FBI do now, and as far as I know, we are being silent. Further, while I have no authority in my warrant to look into the emails (and I have stuck to my limited search authority), the mere existence of these emails is sufficient to give me pause when I see that we (FBI) have been served with a subpoena for all materials related to HC."

nobody has brought up this discrepency between the OIG report and Robertson's testimoney where he claimed he had 10 times the emails than Comey said.
Now it's 20 times.

In the OIG report, the "NYO briefed that there were 675,000 emails on the laptop spanning a time period from 2006 to 2016, and stated that there “appears to be blackberry messages” on the laptop.

The OIG Report foot note 165:
No electronic record exists of the case agent’s initial review of the Weiner laptop.
The case agent told us that at some point in mid-October 2016 the NYO ASAC(my insert: Assistant Special Agent in Charge) instructed the case agent to wipe his work station.
The case agent explained that the ASAC was concerned about the presence of potentially classified information on the case agent’s work station, which was not authorized to process classified information.
The case agent told us that he followed the ASAC’s instructions, but that this request concerned him because the audit trail of his initial processing of the laptop would no longer be available.
The case agent clarified that none of the evidence on the Weiner laptop was impacted by this, explaining that the FBI retained the Weiner laptop and only the image that had been copied onto his work station was deleted.
The ASAC recalled that the case agent “worked through the security department to address the concern” of classified information on an unclassified system. He told us that he did not recall how the issue was resolved.

Note: the CART (my insert: Computer Analysis and Recovery Team) examiner also had an image of Weiner's laptop on his workstation. He was the one that eneded up itemizing the contents of the laptop and came up with the 675k email number. There is no mention that the CART examiner had the contents of his workstation wiped.

After re-reading the OIG report with a different set of eyes, and the OIG summaries...Horowitz accepted too many people's statements as "Gospel"...or he chose not to "see" or "hear" evil.

Nobody is going to re-open this report. And I'm done referring to it.
