Don’t forget our President Nixon’s entente with China... that was certainly an opening that led us to where we are today.

Dont forget our President Nixons entente with China...
***********************************************************
I believe that you mean “Détente” not “entente”
Détente (a French word meaning release from tension) is the name given to a period of improved relations
(Not a grammer Nazi, just Alt-write)
Opening China as a tactic in the Cold War wasn’t a terrible decision. Letting them have access to our military secrets and our markets, beginning in the early 90s, without requiring actual reform and liberalization, was the mistake. During our 50 year cold war with the Soviets, we didn’t provide them military technology or help them fix their industrial problems. We traded with them in a limited way, grain deals and such, but not missile technology and we didn’t let them make our computer chips.
Nixon wasn’t the problem; Bush, Clinton, Bush and Obama were.
True - that is another whole crib of corn to be shucked. We were told originally that this opening of relations would help to lead China away from communism.
Was that their true intention? The result seems to be to lead us more towards a Marxist nightmare.
