Term limits of federal judges? Popular election of judges? Popular election of judges for a specific term?
I love our founding fathers and founding documents, but there is one assumption they made that hasn’t survived history.
The stated purpose of conferring life time appointment of judges was to remove political influence, allow judges to rule freely without bias.
I think we all can admit our judges are political, some more than others. The founding fathers designed this whole deal for a good and moral people to be in high positions. Our 4 leftest judges are highly partisan.
Now, what we’re discussing is how to fix that. Or, is a fix needed.
The founding fathers didn’t like electing judges, lawyers love to make contributiins, and poof, a “good ole boy” network is born, and someone gets screwed.
We elect our judges here in Kentucky. And yes we have good ole boy networks. Is that preferable or not.
Term limits of 18 years is a long time. Is that a distinction without a difference?

I went thru this thought process when we were thrust into the LGBTQRSTUV marriage mess. Kentucky passed a constitutional amendment in the 80s defining marriage as between one man and one woman. It passed voter approval by 70-25
The obvious “fix” would be a popular referendum on the issue that had the legal effect of overturning a bad decission. In this case the issues are simple,, thats not always the case.
Im all for as much power to rest in the people. Or as close to the people as practable.
Given a defined minimum standard that must be met, all federal decissions would be subject to popular referendum p.
Term limts or election of judges becomes less important.
Im convinced a vast majority of Americans are against abortion and LGBTQRSTUV marriages,.

I have posted my suggestion of letting the President remove them with the advice and consent of the Senate.

I think it is the best idea for reform that still tries to accomplish what the founders wanted.
