Since Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death on Friday, the propriety of the Senate confirming a replacement justice before the 2020 election has dominated the news. Nearly every take that could be made has been, from both the left and the right.
It is hard to care about propriety, however, when two years ago Democrats served as accomplices to Christine Blasey Ford, who offered false testimony, under oath, to the U.S. Senate in an attempt to thwart the Supreme Court confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh. In the words of her whom they hoped would nominate the next several Supreme Court justices: “What difference at this point does it make?”
What difference does it make what Joe Biden and Mitch McConnell said in 2016 about voting on the nomination of President Barack Obama’s nominee, Merrick Garland? What difference does it make that at the time the White House and Senate were controlled by different parties, and now they are not? What difference does it make that Sen. Chuck Schumer has threatened that, if Republicans confirm a justice then Democrats regain the Senate, Democrats will expand the size of the court and stack it with leftist justices?
What difference at this point do any of these lawful exercises of raw political power have on our constitutional republic? None.
The brute exercise of political power has consequences and counters, but Democrats’ decision in 2018 to collude instead with the criminally minded—and the media’s willingness to play along—has rendered the discussion of today’s political power plays meaningless.

I am glad Trump is not wavering. He should replay democRATs antics at the last hearing on Kavanaugh.
Notice how all of her false claims went nowhere. No follow up after he was seated, so how genuine was the crime?

RBG could have resigned during the Obama administration and had Obama pick her replacement.
Justice Thomas might want to let Trump pick his replacement.
Elections are likely to get contested.
Confirmation of RBG’s replacement should be done ASAP.
Democrats balked at FDR’s expansion plan, but it made the Supreme Court buckle.
There was also no follow-up charging her with perjury.
The dems treated Kavanaugh in a way that was unacceptable. They activated an emotionally disturbed delusional nut to lie about him.
Because of this treatment, Republicans should not care what democrats say or do. Go ahead with the confirmation NOW. They’re going to burn the cities down, with the support of the dem mayors, no matter what we do.
That’s actually par the course. See all the accusations against Roy Moore disappearing the day he dropped out of the race.
That is exactly what I have been saying since the Left decided to announce RBG’s demise. What they did to Kavanaugh and the nation was reprehensible.
An investigation into Blasey Ford’s perjury would be the perfect accompaniment to the Amy Coney Barrett hearings. Hate Show 2.0..... We have got to play by their rules.
Just waiting for the Dems to produce allegations, all anonymous of course, from the dozens of professors and judges that the female nominated ‘slept herself to the top’ with, ala Kamala Harris. Or, that were her ‘Johns’ during her years working as a prostitute to pay her way through law school.
