Culture and race are two entirely different things. Race comes from your genetics and is fixed. Culture comes from your surroundings and, theoretically anyway, can be changed. I’m willing to bet that the culture that produced you has precious little in common with the culture that exists in East Garfield Park in Chicago today.

Certainly the history of discrimination figures in; but what would be so desirable after the past half century since Jim Crow was outlawed would be for American blacks to feel the same freedom whites do when a member of their erhnic group commits a crime: say to yourself, “What’s that got to do with me? If my kid did that, I’d kick his ass.”
What gets reported in the mainstream media, typically, are full-throated defenses of the person who did the criminal behavior and immediate cries of racism because the person was apprehended for crimes that are in full view on video, or have supporting DNA evidence. This is wearisome and is not helping young people to learn that actual crimes have serious consequences.
