There's a simple explanation: Ruth Ginsburg personifies legalization of abortion.
Abortion is very wrong so supporting or participating in it causes subconscious feelings of guilt.

Making abortion legal assuages the guilt by normalizing the wrongness away - at least on the surface. The massive guilt is still there; behind a crumbling dam of legality. The dam just lost another chunk, allowing guilt to pour through.

Unacknowledged guilt often expresses itself as maniacal rage.

All very simply and easily explained.
