"...sparing the Freepers some typical left wing talking points..." And we do appreciate it!
Let me guess...
- Men are sharks most deadly enemy (except for maybe Orcas, probably true)
- Global warming has contributed to the decline of these large predators
- Sharks are misunderstood, and not really a danger to man
- The fear of sharks is irrational
- Sharks perform vital functions in the oceanic ecology, and humans are destroying them and upsetting the balance
LOL, and I didn't even read the article...:)

LOL, and I didn't even read the article...:) You hit on some of the talking points just right.
When I was doing a lot of shark fishing charters, Dalhousie Univ. in Canada was pushing the 90% of shark have been wiped out theory.
We would catch and release on rod and reel 30 big blue sharks in a day .
I would wonder what it would have been like, if 9 times as many sharks were around the boat. -Tom

I wouldn’t say they’re misunderstood per se. They definitely aren’t the apex predators save for Orcas in the ocean for nothing, so they definitely shouldn’t be underestimated. But they’re definitely not maneaters either, not by nature at least (if anything, we’re more likely to cause indigestion due to being too bony to even allow them to power their bodies, too slow to digest.).
