With more armed citizens, you won't need as many police, because people would understand that it's not worth it to rob a store, as someone working and/or a patron may be armed.
More guns by good citizens is good. But not less cops. The two are not the same thing or equivalent.
Oh, so now we're blessing criminals with "understanding"...as in:
Golly gee jehopefers, I better not do any criminal activities now, cos the cops are gone and some redneck might shoot me! I'll just wait to be bad until the cops come back because
I AM A DISCERNING CRIMINAL! I may not care about right and wrong and people's stuff that aint mine, but I by God know that these rednecks with shoot me if I mess with them or their stuff".
Are you nuts? Really? No, I mean really? I think you just have a hard on for the cops, and now you are trying to come up with some of the crummiest reasons I've heard, outside a Joe Biden speech. Hey, did you steal that from him? Are you one of his speech writers??!
Oh, and all those people that you think might get armed if the cops are gone...uh...dude, we're already there. Every day, all the time. Frankly, were I you, I'd be more worried about people like me that are just...armed and there.
The myth that citizen/vigilante justice doesnt work probably arose from San Franciscans taking over the city and exiling corrupt politicians under penalty of death if they returned. The whole of gun control can be boiled down to God forbid the subjects be well armed and discover their [politicians] activities.
