The Brady parents each come from previous marriages, but no one ever talks about it. Mike is a widow, but no one explains whether Carol got divorced or lost her husband. The kids seem to adjust rather quickly to living with strangers, and they never mention their other parents.
After the first season, it feels like Mike and Carol have been together all along and actually had all those kids together.
The Brady kids are often made fun of for their optimism. The kids might not get along perfectly at all times, but they're generally perky and like to work together. The children all become upset at different points, but their happiness outshines any troubles. The extra cheer might be an escape for viewers, but it's not realistic.
Alice is the Brady family's faithful housekeeper, and Carol clearly can't manage without her. Alice is up for any challenge and does far more for this family than cook and clean the kitchen. She is sometimes underappreciated, but she rarely lets it get to her. Alice's ability to keep her cool with all those kids is unbelievable.

Architect Dad designed his own home with only one bathroom.
“Her husband was presumed lost at sea, his name was Jonas Grumby.”
I see what you did there. That was well played. It was also done because Carol wanted to spend the day with Jonas, but he got this gig at the last minute. Problem was the theme song. “The professor and Carol..” didn’t fit.
The Skipper!
Sherwood Schwartz answered #10. There is no mystery. Carol’s first husband and the father of her kids was Roy Hinkley, also known as ‘the Professor’ on ‘Gilligan’s Island’ (another Sherwood Schwartz show). The story was told on ‘A Very Brady Sequel’ so it is canon.
Mike Brady’s first wife was Genie from ‘I dream of Jeannie’. We don’t really know what happened to Major Nelson, but, Schwartz also put it in “A Very Brady Sequel” So, again, it’s canon.
Hahaha!!
Ah, the Skipper from Gilligan’s Island! Boy, I’m old, I know that one, lol! Now as for Alice, I always thought she got along great with them and that she had great affection for them. The mom wasn’t like most moms who stayed at home and did EVERYTHING by themselves. Still liked her, though.
Yeah, in the Brady Bunch movie, it was intimated that the Professor was Carol’s husband and the kid’s father. I thought the Skipper would be more funny.
:D
Well if the Professor was taking a day trip with Ginger and Maryann there was likely a divorce in the future anyway. I bet he engineered the thing, think of all the the child support he didn’t have to pay stuck on that island. Not bad at the very very least gets too look at Ginger and Maryann, and laugh at Gilligan. Too much coincidence that his schemes to get off the island always failed at the last minute.
Really? I didn’t catch that when I saw the movie. Very funny reference!
>>>The Skipper!<<<
Back in the 70’s I met The Skipper (Alan Hale Jr.) at his Restaurant called The Lobster Barrel on La Cienega in Los Angeles.
He was standing at the Bar knocking them back when I went up to say hello. Very friendly guy, even when he was tipsy...
Because he was an architect, not an engineer
1969
they couldn’t do a real reality-based tv show
they were lucky they could show both parents in the same bed with pajamas and stuff on, tslking
you cant judge these shows by the same tv standards 50 years later
and marcia too
It was in the 2nd movie, “A Very Brady Sequel”.

Does that include this silly thread?
I did a little business with Susan Olsen about ten years ago and became decent friends. I never brought up the series as that seemed a past world to me. Late one night, after some wine, she opened up about it on her own and which “sibling” she really despises, and a few other good insights. Great lady and politically conservative.
True, but then again they made it world war 3 for Greg smoking a cigarette. I dont think the family could handle the joint factor. The parents would combust.
ROTFLMAO. Now that hilarious.
