TRAVELLING has reached an all-time low due to the pandemic as travel bans and quarantine restrictions are enforced.
However, this hasn't stopped some of the stupidest tourists making idiots of themselves abroad in recent years - here are some of the worst behaved travelling, from statue-breakers to weapon-carrying-passengers.
Breaks toe off 200-year-old sculpture during selfie The tourist, a 50-year-old man from Austria, had been leaning against the "Paolina Borghese Bonaparte as Venus Victrix" artwork at the Gypsotheca Antonio Canova museum in Possagno.
But when he executed his plan - as seen on CCTV - he snapped off one of the sculpture's toes in the process.
Falls into river after jumping on crumbing rock A tourist miraculously survived falling over 20 feet into the water when the ground collapsed beneath him after he jumped up and down on a raised river bank.
The accident, captured by witnesses on the banks of the river Zhulong in Li County in North China's Hebei Province, saw the bank collapse, as the man fell into the river below.

While in Custer State Park I saw a tourist couple walk across a bridge to go and pet a bison.
That is really stupid and can get you killed!
One of the changes that I have seen over the years is the identity of the offenders. For a long time after WW2, it was the Americans who could afford to travel and many became instantly ugly. They are still there BUT so many other nationalities are out traveling as well and they are overwhelming us of the USofA in these unwanted categories! I can’t say that I am pleased but it is a reminder that being ugly is not restricted by any criteria and only restrained by one’s own sense of honor and consideration!
My wife and I were in a line in the 1980’s to see the Sainte Chappelle in Paris (a stunningly beautiful chapel) and chatting with a couple of people in the line. Then, an American with a Texas accent walked up and said to no one in particular, “where do you get the f%@#ing tickets?!” Suddenly, none of us spoke English.

I loved Sainte Chappelle - the only place I ever gasped out-loud at. The rudest tourist ever was an Italian lady at the Louvre who used her infant-occupied stroller to ram and elbow her way to the front of the mob in order to see the Mona Lisa better.

I don’t have a problem of people taking selfies with deadly creatures or doing dangerous things.
