I wear a name tag with a sign in it that says “ I am severely hearing disabled, I don’t know sign language, I must read lips, please speak slowly and clearly”.
The reactions from people that I interact with are very interesting... some want to pull down their masks but don’t, because they don’t want to risk censure; others just go ahead and pull them down.
I was speaking with a woman near my age recently who was deluded about needing liberation in the ‘70’s. (Won’t go into that BS) But I asked, “if you refuse to wear a bra to cover your t!+$, why are you wearing a face bra?” It is now making the rounds with much laughter thru my old lady friends.
Seems like I wasted 2 months trying to explain facts. Now a little prevarication about hearing ability and some smart aleck humor is doing a better job. My oldest daughter over in Alabama has taken on ridiculing face bras in her circle of friends. I’m giving Little Jeremiah (may God keep her home safe) a hat tip for this idea which grew from her “face burka” comment.
They won’t listen to common sense therefore carry on with derision.
