During the Beerhall Putch, two of Hitler’s younger followers took shelter in a Jewish-owned bank, the proprietor of which sheltered them because they reminded him of his deceased son (probably died in the great war, but Conrad Heiden doesn’t say so). The two youths were so affected by this act of kindness that after the coast cleared and they got away, they resigned from the Nazi Party.
